Hey guys... so this wasn't a request.
This is a bit meta, kind of about how I've been feeling lately.
Not to get too serious or anything, but I'm just sayin',
ya know, I definitely like giving captions to you guys,
but (believe it or not) it takes a lot of time out of my otherwise free time.
Not saying I'm leaving. Just asking for you guys to understand and bare with
the cooky way I select requests, number of caps to do, types of caps to do,
number of series to do, different types of caps to do, people to respond to, etc.
Think about that for this next month.
It all takes time, effort, and loads of energy.
But I just wanted to let you guys know my perspective on it all.
Hope this cap (sorta) gave you that perspective, from my skin...
Now, on to the requests!
....for those who are still reading...
I think I'm gonna keep doing these from time to time.
Ya know, a little meta caption about what's on my mind.
We'll see if I can keep making semi-creative, metaphor
captions for my feelings. Let's call 'em: PSA (tehs' feelings).
I guess I'll always have the caption + a bit of an explanation.
I really loved this caption it allowed us to see how you really feel about how much work it takes into writing captions and love the concept behind these category. And I know how you feel it takes a lot of time to write a caption for everyday and takes away so much free time anyways I hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you! Glad we can fist pound in solidarity over the time-suck of captioning. Ya, we'll see how this type of cap comes along in the future... just figured I'd give something wacky a try. :/
DeleteYeah it's so crazy almost feels like another job sometimes unless you are really interested in the type of caption you are writing which why I stopped requests until winter break though I'll still be working but I know your pain and that you must get request like once a day. It's always interesting the kind of captions you created since I have used your swap at birth type of caption alot because those are my favorite. But this really allows us to see how you feel. Anyways if you want to take a long break you should since captioning can be really stressful
DeleteI just wanted to say that I love your captions. They are very creative and well done. This one was not an exception. Keep up with the good work but don't forget to take breaks.
ReplyDeleteSincerely, A Fan.
Thanks for taking the time to comment! Means a lot to see someone poking his head out to say something so nice.
DeleteI check your blog almost every single day and I really love the captions you do. I can't say I don't always get a little disappointed (in a very selfish way) when they aren't suited to my favourite types but when you do those, they're fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI've tried myself before to write captions and can tell from my first hand experience how hard it is to be creative/motivated and able to produce something you're happy with every time. I can only imagine what it's like when you get the number of views you do. I guess you feel some kind of expectancy/pressure to always put them out. I presume some times people also get vocal when they don't get what they requested.. or it's not their taste.
I wish I could make people should comment and support more but it's kind of the nature of the beast where to a lot of people it's a guilty pleasure that is done anonymously.
I'd be disappointed if you stopped but could completely understand. I hope you can continue to find some enjoyment/satisfaction and motivation to keep going for as long as you get something from this.
I haven't commented in a long time but have been following your blog for well over 2 years now - this was one of the first I saw from you and it opened up a whole new 'thing' for me! http://tehswitcherscaptions.blogspot.co.nz/2012/05/good-bad-girls.html
Please know you have supporters :)
Oh wow, that was a long time ago. Fwoo!
DeleteThanks for following so closely! It really means a lot to hear that you know the whole situation of trying to make people happy, and living up to folks' expectations. The pressure can get to ya sometime, ya know?
I'd just like to say that I really appreciate the time and energy you put into this blog. Any time you need a break or need to slow down, I fully understand. This should be fun and not a source of stress. - H
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! ^.^
DeleteYeah, I just feel bad a lot of the times taking the breaks and missing requests. I really do want to give loads of caps to you all! Makes me happy to see comments like yours.
That was very brave of you to share your true emotions. As a fairly long-term fan, I'd like to let you know that your work is amazing and I appreciate you posting captions everyday, but if you need a break, then take one whenever you feel like. Don't worry about pleasing us, worry about pleasing yourself. Like I said, I love your captions, but I can't love them like I should knowing that you're working yourself hard to make them. Thank you for your dedication.

Really appreciate this J -- Yeah, I didn't wanna get too serious, but I figured it was worth sharing how I feel cause ya know, why not, right?
DeleteTotally understand. You know you have my support!
ReplyDeleteGreat little cap either way!

ReplyDeleteI imagine the number of comments here shows just how wide an appreciative an audience you have. We'll be here when you're ready to come back.
ReplyDeleteI can perfectly understand how do you feel, but I wouldn't worry. I think you have a more supportive fandom than most!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, we're here for you.
